The PB's had D.A.R.E. Graduation on Friday, May 21st 1999. D.A.R.E. stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. The classes, with Officer Dan, lasted 17 weeks. All of the PB's wrote essays describing what D.A.R.E. meant to them. Here's the PB's winning essay:

D.A.R.E., by NN

What I have learned in the D.A.R.E. Program has helped me understand what it really is like in the street today.

"I would never even think to do drugs"

There are good people just like there is bad people.

We have to learn how to be wise and think before we decide to do anything.

There is a lot drugs out there. And one thing I learned to say is "No to drugs." I never want to do drugs or be around anyone that does drugs. Drugs is not for me. I want to finish my school years and be somebody special. I will help myself do good and help others.

The D.A.R.E. Program not only taught me about different drugs and how to say no to drugs, but I also learned certain vocabulary words. It taught me how there is peer pressure among kids, especially when they want you to do drugs. You must always remember that drugs will not help you do anything good. They will only mess your life and may be death.

My mom always talks to me. She is always helping me and wants me to do things right. She is proud of me. I could never even think to do drugs. I want to have a safe and happy life.

Proud of the PB's!

I was inspired by reading your D.A.R.E. essays. I'm proud of the way you all conducted yourselves throughout the D.A.R.E. classes and especially at the D.A.R.E. Graduation! Good job, PB's!
