At the end of the 01/02 year, some PB’s wrote letters to the newest Polar Bear class:
Dear New P.B.
Don't listen to the things that some people say about Mr. Roemer. he's a great teacher. Your year in Mr. Roemer's class will probably be your best year in elementary. Mr. Roemer can be strict sometimes, but only if he catches you doing the wrong thing. To have a good year in Mr. Roemer's class all you have to do is follow the class rules and have fun. You probably will go to time-out at least once the whole year.
All you have to remember is don't talk back, and don't get an attitude. Especially if you're in time-out. I'ts really mostly your choice if you have fun this year. If you're bad then you might not go to Fort Desoto or Tallahassee. You will have fun in Mr. Reomer's class if you're good.
Yours Truly,
O.M.A.
Dear New PB,
My name is Janet, and I am an old Polar Bear from Mr. Roemer's class. You might think that Mr. Roemer is mean, but once you get to know him, he isn't as mean as you thought. He might be strict at first, and he may give you homework on the first day, but being in his class is very fun because you sometimes get special privileges that other classes don't have. And also, you get to go to some very cool field trips like Tallahassee, which you may have already heard of. Also you get to go to Fort Desoto and your new middle school. But unfortunately, we were unable to go to Fort Desoto because we didn't have enough drivers.
About the homework and reports, you have daily homework that you do no matter what. And that homework is RNR, which stands for Read 'N Respond. For that homework, all you have to do is a summary on anything you read about. And for the part of the reports, just do your very best, work hard at it, put in a lot of effort, and show Mr. Roemer that you care. But I still advise that you do your homework every day.
I also encourage you to not roll your eyes at Mr. Roemer because then he will make sure you hear about him. Also, don't whine or complain to him, or else he'll get on your case. (Trust me, you probably do not want hime to get on your case!) This is a very good class and you are very luck that you have such an excellent teacher as Mr. Roemer!
Sincerely,
JM
Dear New Polar Bears,
I just want to let you know Mr. Roemer isn't like any other teacher you've seen before! He gives more responsibility and privilages than ever. In the morning the other classes sit outsied and either freeze or burn. The weather is never perfect outside.
Well, instead of freezing or buning outside, we come straitght inside. If you talk, play around, or raise your hand, you have to go outside and sit and act like a normal student.
An old Polar Bear,
A.D.
Dear Polar Bears,
My name is Tea. Last year I was in Mr. Roemer's class. And I would like to tell you something more about 5th grade and Mr. Roemer.
Like first don't be afraid. You are lucky, because you are in Mr. Roemer's class. He really understands you. And it's really fun to be in his class, because you are learning throught the game, but it doesn't mean that you don't have to do homework.
You going to have lot a surprises at the this school year. But those surprises all depending on you. If you are behaving, you are going to have fun. Show respect and wish to learn, and you would be fine.
Sincerely,
T.M.
Dear New Polar Bear,
If you think Mr. Roemer's mean think again because he is not. The only time when he is mean is when you lie, cheat, or steal. Or if you do something without permission like go in his desk or on his desk. Here are some things you should never do in his classroom.
- go in his desk without permission.
- talk when he is talking
- do anything without permission
- talk back
This year will be fun for you because you will go to Tallahassee, Fort DeSoto, and Mr. Roemer does a lot of fun stuff.
Sincerely,
K.T.
Dear New Polar Bears,
Hope you have as I did. I'll give you some advice always come prepared and ready to learn to school, never talk back to Mr. Roemer, and definitly never roll you eyes while Mr. Roemer is talking to you. Some cool things that happen in Mr. Roemer's class you have lots of parties and experiments. One of the experiments is the Bubble Gum one. And the last party is the C'You party. You're not allowed to say Bye. That's why it it's called C'You.
The most important thing in going to tell you is have fun and try your best.
Sincerely,
A.G.
You will have fun in Mr. Roemer's class like Rockets, Teddy Bear Days, or Field Day.
For Teddy Bear Day you have to bring in a teddy bear. Then you put it by the door so you can guess whose is whose.
For the rockets, Mr. Roemer will buy them for you, but you have to put them together with out Mr. Roemer's help. Then after you put it together, you spray paint it, and launch it.
Your friend,
A.W.
Mr. Roemer is nice, so don't worry about him being mean. He may say he's the meanest teacher in the world, but he's not. He likes to joke around and says that he eats kids. He doesn't like it when kids get mad at him out loud and yell at him. He likes kids that takes him outside and talk to him personally. Good Luck.
Your Friend,
R.L.
